Our Typical Sailing Week and Itinerary
Upon arrival in Nidri, you will be welcomed aboard your yacht at 17:00 hours. Learn to Sail guests will meet fellow crew members / students and their Instructor. If you are flotilla / bareboat guests, you will be given a short briefing. The evening is your own to explore, relax or shop. Our Skippers can suggest restaurants based on your preferences.
The first morning is the only late start. There will be mooring demonstrations for bareboat/flotilla Skippers new to Mediterranean, sailing techniques and a comprehensive safety briefing for the Learn to Sail / Cabin charter guests. Also a chance to stock up the fridge with lunch and cold drinks / beers!
On our first morning, we aim to have the yachts ready to leave about 11:00 hours. The first days destination is not too far away, giving everyone the chance to familiarise themselves with their yacht and gain their sea legs. If you are on a Learn to Sail holiday, you will be given your log books with the syllabus so, you will already be able to start learning before even leaving the dock!
Most afternoons we will explore idyllic, tranquil bays, have lunch, swim and snorkel. We are normally in port by 17:30 hours and after a cold drink and freshen up, we dine together to give everyone the chance to meet. We have no commercial arrangements with any particular restaurant, so our recommendations are based on personal experience. Our professional Skippers / Instructors will dine with the group but at no cost to our guests. Most people enjoy the opportunity to discuss their day with other like minded people. If you do not wish to join the group our skippers are happy to make an alternative recommendation (please let them know in advance).
This sets the pattern for the week, apart from earlier starts to get the most out of your sailing day. Every morning there will be a briefing to discuss sailing conditions, lunch and evening destinations. Most yachts will have set sail within the hour. We do not give regimented briefings like larger flotilla companies. During the week, we try to visit a different port or island every night and there is always enough time to explore locally. Our itinerary can change due to group dynamics but mainly the weather, if necessary!
Spend your days learning new sailing techniques or refreshing your sailing skills with our professional sailing Instructors. Alternatively, if it’s relaxation you crave, just kick back and let us do the work – just let your skipper know your preferences.
On the last evening, we are normally back to Nidri, our base, by 16:00 hours at the latest, for a freshen up, last minute shopping and an evening out with the Skippers to celebrate a successful week full of enjoyment and wonderful memories. Possibly some certificates awarded!
At the end of the week, everyone leaves the yachts by 09:00 hours Sunday morning. This allows the staff to prepare for the next guests. Those that are staying for a second week have a free day. There is plenty to do in Lefkas including historic sites, waterfalls and of course, shopping; check our island history page for more information.
For those taking flights in the afternoon or evening, we can store your luggage so you are free to enjoy your last few hours in Lefkas without worrying about your luggage.
A typical one week route/itinerary option:
Don’t forget to ask if you want to visit a particular destination – we will always try to tailor your route where possible. Nothing is set in stone, we may change the route due to weather or preference. For our guests staying an additional week, we do our best to change the route.
The following will give you an idea of the area we cover.
|Sunday||First night aboard yacht in Nidri. Unpack, unwind and relax, you’ve arrived. Maybe a stroll to the waterfalls before dinner, or just look around the town.|
|Monday||Safety briefing and set sail to Kalamos Island where you will stay in Kalamos harbour for the night.|
|Tuesday||Ready for a lovely long sail to Ithica. Stopping at Cliff Bay on the uninhabited Atoko Island for lunch. Ithica, you will visit Kioni or Frikes to view the beautiful harbours and sight seeing.|
|Wednesday||On to Fiscardo. A beautiful, famous, harbour village on the northern tip of Kefalonia with traditional fishing boats and heaped in history.|
|Thursday||Sivota for the night. A picturesque, relaxed little harbour village.|
|Friday||Meganisi Island, stopping at Little Vathi harbour. See if you can spot the ‘unexpected’ in the harbour! You wont believe it!|
|Saturday||Calling in at Pirates Cove for lunch and swim, then back to Nidri for a last night of exploration and fun.
Saturday night, is when we ask our guests to start packing ready to leave the yacht the next morning, so its not such a rush the next day.
|Sunday||We ask our guests to make sure if they haven’t an early flight, to leave the yacht by 9am as you can imagine, our skippers are very busy preparing the yachts for our next guests to enjoy a wonderful holiday.|
Our trips are most popular for 1 week stay but upon availability we also provide day sailing. Day sail options depart from Lefkas at 9am to explore islands such as Meganisi, Kalamos, Kastos, Ithica and Kefelonia. Suitable for all level of sailor but we require a minimum of 4.

“We came back for the sixth time to sail with Activity Holidays Greece and loved the chilled out end of season atmosphere. As always the holiday was a fabulous combination of sun, sea and sailing with the bonus of meeting old friends and new for dinner and drinks in the evenings. The Greek islands were stunning Ben and Shannon were skilled people skippers - learning is tailored to your own level of ability and how involved you want to be. - Cath Gregson”
“My best ever holiday. So cool. Great for teenagers and families. I got to spend loads of time with my dad, mates, learning to sail, swimming, sunbathing, snorkelling, diving, surfing on the SUP board etc. Sleeping on deck was brilliant and we stayed somewhere new every day. Superb from start to finish, and I've told dad we should only ever go with Ben”

“Awesome week sailing on Sandy G with Ben and my new ship mates.
As a solo traveller Activity Holidays provide the perfect environment to make new friends and reconnect with old ones. This was my third visit this year and the best so far. The skippers know my level and encouraged me to build on my skill and grow in confidence, also some great banter on-board and plenty of laughs during the process.
Under Ben's watchful eye, we did some really technical stuff including friendly racing, goose winging down channel and sailing on and off anchor. Thanks dude, can't wait until next season, I will be back!”
